XLII  Halftime Show and Entertainment
The Super Bowl halftime show is known for being the most anticipated musical events – nearly 140 million viewers tuned in last year, and this year will be no different.  TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS, will perform in the BRIDGESTONE SUPER BOWL XLII HALFTIME SHOW on FOX at University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona on Sunday, Feb. 3, as announced by the NFL.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers can be considered THE American Band. Since their debut album in 1976, they have sold more than 50 million records, as well as being one of the top touring acts in the music business. And check out the pedigree: Top Petty has 18 Grammy Noms, various lifetime achievement awards, as well as the Rock and Roll hall of fame all  under his belt.  Among the Heartbreakers hits are Breakdown, Free Fallin’, Refugee, I won’t Back Down, and American Girl among many others. Before the Heartbreakers, Tom Petty toured with The Traveling Wilburys with fellow Rock n’ Roll legends George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne.  Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers join the family of halftime performers that includes the Rolling Stones,  Paul McCartney, and Prince.  The game and halftime show will air worldwide in more than 230 countries, and this is the first year the Bridgestone Brand is a title sponsor for the Halftime show.

This is football’s greatest rally – and it is all for international goodwill! An up and coming Arizona  youth football team will go padding for padding with the best youth team from Sonora, Mexico. The Arizona-Sonora Bowl also includes one of the first international youth football clinics, and has NFL players like Marvell Smith cheering from the stands! Proceeds benefit the Sports Ad-Hoc Committee of the Arizona-Mexico Commission.

The Official 944 Party

Scottsdale Super ArtWalk

Scottsdale Arts District
The internationally known Scottsdale ArtWalk  is spread across several blocks in the Scottsdale Arts District. Held the day before the Game, the ArtWalk celebrates the showdown in its own classic way, opening their door to the public and hosting receptions and  new exhibits. ArtWalkers will also be treated to live music, food samples, prizes and more.

University of Phoenix Stadium Info and Parking
After proposition 302 passed with 52% of the vote, University of Phoenix stadium was developed. A multipurpose facility boasting 73,000 seats, it also has the distinction of being the only American structure  to be named as one of the world’s ten most impressive by BusinessWeek.  Designed by renowned architect Peter Eisenman, it is the first venue in North America to feature both a retractable roof and retractable playing field. The stadium boasts six levels—the field, main concourse, club level, suite level (complete with 88 suites), upper concourse level and mechanical level. There are approximately 63,000 permanent seats, expandable to 73,000.

Security at University of Phoenix Stadium will be significantly heightened for the Super Bowl. Many items usually permitted into NFL venues are not allowed into the Super Bowl. The National Football League and Arizona law enforcement strongly recommend that fans minimize the number and size of all items carried into the Stadium. If you are in doubt about the appropriateness of an item, it is best to leave it behind on Game Day.
All items carried into stadium by fans will be carefully inspected and may potentially not be allowed into the Stadium. Fans are encouraged to bring nothing larger than a very small purse or bag. Nothing larger than 8 ½ x 11 inches is allowed. The NFL, University of Phoenix Stadium and law enforcement cannot hold prohibited or excluded items for game attendees.

Parking information
There are approximately 14,000 parking spaces, located in various lots, surrounding the stadium.. University of Phoenix Stadium has over 2000 parking spaces reserved for our guests with special needs or disabilities. However, no exceptions:
All vehicles parking at or around the University of Phoenix Stadium on Super Bowl Sunday, February 3, 2008, will be required to have a visible parking permit.
Permits must be purchased in advance. No re-entry will be allowed.
Super Bowl XLII Parking Permit Rates:

  • Car, Van, SUV = $50 + $10 service fee = $60
  • Limousine / Towncar = $150 + $15 service fee = $165
  • Bus / Mini Bus = $300 + $25 service fee = $325

Parking permits can be picked up beginning Saturday, Jan. 19 from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm (Arizona) at the Peoria Sports Complex located at 16101 N. 83rd Ave. Peoria, Arizona 85382
